To Mourn is To Feel

Today I have been thinking of types of mourning. 

Everyone mourns in different ways, but how different are they? Putting customs and cultures aside, the individual mourners are different. 

I have been told by some people that they mourn for about one week, doing no work or socializing. Other people just simply are consumed with sadness. There are also the emotionless ones, who feel nothing, as if to have gone numb. 

I have recently heard of mourning as if being a type of fasting. No eating, no drinking, no talking… just solitude for a few days. I find that way quite fascinating, because it almost shows respect and gratitude toward the deceased. 

There is no right way to mourn, so don’t let other people tell you what you should or shouldn’t do. Mourn as your body feels, whatever style that is.
